More Excel works..

Well, one may think this is just excel work, but finally today i got a comment from my colleague that for doing this, he thinks i am a 'tensai' ..which means genius..thanks for the compliment..I actually do this out of fun, but i am not so sure if it would be get me somewhere one day..

First up, the gundam picture..I drew this out of scratch and it has no reference to any of the existing gundams (in anime) that are up to date..but maybe a bit from the F90 and F90II (model kits). It all started out with the head..and then out of curiosity and eagerness, I tried drawing the body..then the legs, the arms, etc..and then, it became a bit lame because it was just a robot standing there. So I decided to add in that super long rifle (idea from the F90II) and made the gundam holding it as though its like a soldier or something..The effects of the gundam mostly came from the bevelling effect in excel, as well as the gradient effect to give the shades..there are more effects you can try out...be adventurous..

and then, it came to the tinkering of the 3D models...it all started when I opened up the clip art file, and found the gear clip art  is made out of a flat model, then added in with the 3D format and rotation effects..to give it the 3 dimensional look..so be it, I decided to try out on something a bit more complicated, and I didn't know why..I just drew a formula 1 car..well not to the exact spec, but just to make it look cool and probably look like a Ferrari road car..Just to prove that indeed I did draw it out, you can see that I can select the shapes in the picture..took me 2 days to complete this...

That's the final product..it would look better if I actually saved the pics in .bmp instead of .jpg..I can't seem to upload .bmp files here though..and right after this project, I remembered one of my previous drawings of an old F1 remake which I feature in the blog here quite a while ago..nvm, you can refer to the work here to give you an idea..

Previously I had this in side view and top view...and again..the wanting to experiment feeling in me said..go for it..make the car to have the 3D look..and well...similarly to the F1 drawing, I did it...basically I just took the side view and converted them to 3D format and rotated the shapes like crazy in order to get the right angle and perspective...maybe it isn't so perfect if you look properly..
The rims looked different as well because I am unable to rotate the rim into 3D format..it's a bit complicated there..hard to explain..but anyhow...this is the finishing..

TADAAAA!!!!!!notice the rims on the front and the back are similar..many shapes on board...difficult to rotate them...so i just leave them as it is...

A lot of testings and trials required to get these right..but once you get the idea..it should be easy..
